At a live build workshop run by architectural practice Studio Bark, 140m2 of SmartPly OSB3 has been installed at the construction of Warren Lodge – a prototype of low-energy student-led construction which gives students and graduates ‘hands-on’ experience of a real building project.
At the £4.9 million Oak Meadow Primary School in Wolverhampton, a super-insulated lightweight timber frame was integral to the project achieving Passivhaus certification. For the inner external walls and first floor ceiling, SmartPly OSB3 panels provided the perfect combination of strength and airtightness – helping the school to become one of the UK’s first accredited Passivhaus schemes.
Following extensive testing by independent research body the Passive House Institute, the new SmartPly VapAirTight structural OSB panel has achieved recommendation from the PHI for airtightness after it delivered the excellent result of a q50 value of < 0,03 m³/h/m² for airflow rate.
Leading manufacturer of Oriented Strand Board (OSB) SmartPly has introduced the innovative, new SmartPly FR (Flame Retardant) OSB3 to deliver predictable fire performance backed by independent verification for projects where Euroclass Reaction to Fire compliance is paramount.
More than 11,000m2 of SmartPly OSB3 has been used in the construction of the structural timber frame at the University of East Anglia’s (UEA) landmark new development The Enterprise Centre – the UK’s first commercial building designed to achieve both Passivhaus and BREEAM Outstanding certification.
SmartPly is set to revolutionise the way timber frame structures are designed and built with its latest technological innovation – the SmartPly VapAirTight structural OSB panel. With integrated vapour control properties and airtightness engineered into each panel, SmartPly VapAirTight has performed six times better than PassivHaus standard for air leakage, making it the ideal panel system for ultra-low energy buildings.
The Building Centre has once again turned to the versatility, strength and durability of SmartPly OSB3 for a new major summer exhibition about architectural, planning and engineering visualisation. Suitable for a variety of building applications, the smart, cost-effective and environmentally friendly SmartPly OSB3 panels have been used to build stands, displays and seating areas at ‘Drawn to the Future’ which runs from 23rd July - 3rd October.
Leading Irish timber panel manufacturer, Coillte Panel Products has supported an innovative design collaboration between four Irish architectural practices and Irish Design 2015 for the London Festival of Architecture.
SmartPly FR/FR Build OSB3 from Coillte Panel Products has been used as a flame retardant flooring solution within a new seven-storey, timber frame accommodation building for students of John Moores University and University of Liverpool.
Coillte Panel Products is pleased to announce that at the 2015 WPA Wood Protection Industry awards event, both SmartPly OSB and Medite MDF products were highly commended.
