Just over a year has passed since Coillte's acquisition of Medite's MDF business from Weyerhaeuser Company in November 2006. The sales and marketing teams for the new Coillte Panel Products division (which includes both Medite MDF and SmartPly OSB) moved to a new location in Dartford, Kent at the end of last year.

Medite operated out of Southend-on-sea in Essex for over twenty-one years, and SmartPly was based in Hawley Manor, already close to the new location in Kent.

Incorporating these two previously individual offices meant bringing together skilled, talented and knowledgeable people in their respective fields, and a new state-of-the-art technology installation, including video conferencing, makes participation in international meetings not only easier, but 'greener'. For when travel is essential, the new office is strategically located on the edge of M25 (London's orbital motorway) for road access throughout the UK, and 20 minutes away is the new Ebbsfleet Eurostar rail terminal for international trains to Paris, Brussels and beyond. London City, Stansted and Gatwick airports are also no more than 45 minutes away for international connections.

Twenty members of staff now work or report to the Coillte Panel Products Dartford Office, and this was all achieved with business as usual under the leadership of Geoff Rhodes and Andrew Macdonald.
