JOSB Done, the generic OSB industry promotion campaign, is now in its fourth year. The ongoing communications campaign flies the flag for Oriented Strand Board (OSB), promoting the wide range of benefits it has and the solutions it offers many industries - from construction to packaging. The campaign encourages everyone from within all sectors of the trade, from merchants, architects and specifiers to the jobbing builder on site, to embrace everything that OSB has to offer and make the switch from other wood panels which may not carry the same quality accreditations.
The campaign started in 2006 after research suggested there were commonly held misconceptions within the industry about OSB's composition and properties. Supported by leading manufacturers, including SmartPly, and with support from the Wood Panel Industry Federation (WPIF), JOSB Done now encompasses a wide range of activities.
The 2009 campaign has seen full update of www.josbdone.com and a focus on case studies and specific technical product information. "JOSB done continues to be an exciting and necessary initiative," says Geoff Rhodes, marketing & business development director for Coillte Panel Products, of which SmartPly is a division. "The information provided by the campaign is now being updated to make sure the very latest technical specification and environmental details are available, as well as the core benefits of OSB as an invaluable multi-tasking building product. However we still need to encourage those specifying and using wood and wood products to challenge ‘traditional' purchasing decisions and ask themselves and their suppliers questions about forest certification and sustainability."
