SMARTPLY SITEPROTECT USED FOR IKEA’S “BOSTIN’ BUILD”
SmartPly’s primed OSB (oriented strand board) product, SiteProtect, has been specified as the site hoarding for the extension and refurbishment of IKEA Birmingham (Wednesbury). After 20 years of trading, the IKEA Birmingham extension project, dubbed ‘The Bostin’ Build’, started in January and will improve the shopping experience it offers with some major changes, including a new entrance and exit area, new entrance lift, stairs and travelator, new crèche facility, double capacity seating area in the restaurant, a new Bistro eatery, a bigger Swedish food market, larger show room area, increased Market Hall space and a new self serve warehouse. For IKEA, the world’s leading home furnishing retailer, sustainability is an integrated part of their business and they have a broad long-term environmental and social programme. Supplied by MeyerTimber.com Tilbury, the six packs of SmartPly SiteProtect from Coillte Panel Products provided IKEA with a high quality, primed site and security hoarding product, and its FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification gave the retailer reassurance of SmartPly SiteProtect’s chain of custody and environmental sustainability. Geoff Rhodes, marketing and business development director for Coillte Panel Products said, “Site hoarding for all types of construction and temporary works is vital for safety and security and must be simple to erect, strong and durable. But what continues to be increasingly demanded is a product which presents a high quality image which also meets stringent environmental requirements. SmartPly SiteProtect is all this and more. It is truly fit-for-purpose and good at its job”.
