‘Vintage at Goodwood’, the annual music and fashion led celebration of creative British cool from the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s & 80s held in August, featured leading DJs, bands, collectors, purveyors of vintage clothing and vintage vinyl from each decade, as well as contemporary bands and brands inspired by Britain’s rich creative and cultural heritage. In the beautiful South Downs of West Sussex, the festival was carefully and elegantly designed to perfectly complement the vintage experience, and SmartPly SiteProtect and Medite’s moisture resistant (MR) and Exterior MDF, both from Coillte Panel Products, provided the 21st century engineered, FSC certified panels from which the scene was set. 800 sheets of SiteProtect, SmartPly OSB’s coated hoarding and site security product, was used as the substrate for the entrance gateway to the festival and as interior linings of the buildings. Specified for its smooth, hard wearing, and paintable surface, and supplied by Covers, the show’s contractor and organisers also have the option of reusing the panels for next year. 400 sheets of 12mm Medite MR (moisture resistant) MDF and 250 sheets of 12mm Medite Exterior MDF were also used in construction throughout the show to create sets and help recreate eras gone by, whilst keeping the inevitable wet festival-season weather at bay. Vintage at Goodwood is the brainchild of designers Gerardine Hemingway MBE and Wayne Hemingway MBE – who are now co-owners of Britain’s premier collection of cultural artefacts, The Land of Lost Content Museum, and Lord March – mastermind behind the internationally acclaimed Goodwood Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival. With these award winning design teams backed by vintage curators, the attention to design and authentic detail ensured that ‘Vintage at Goodwood’ was an event to remember.
